About This Role
The Director of Systems Engineering leads the technical execution of complex defense systems development, owning requirements management, system architecture, and integration and test activities for one or more major programs. This director ensures technical rigor is maintained at every milestone review and that program designs are traceable, verifiable, and achievable within program constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering execution for one or more major defense programs through all development phases
- Own requirements development, decomposition, and traceability from customer spec through component level
- Drive architecture development, trade studies, and technical baseline establishment at SRR, PDR, and CDR
- Manage MBSE model development and ensure the digital thread is maintained across program life
- Lead ICD development and interface management across subsystems and external systems
- Oversee integration and test planning, directing V&V activities through developmental and operational testing
- Interface with government SETA teams, chief engineers, and technical authority on technical performance
- Support proposal development by authoring SE sections and serving as technical volume lead
- Develop and mentor junior and mid-career systems engineers on the program team
